Welcome to the Festival

We are excited to meet you this Saturday and Sunday (22nd-23rd September) for the Sydney Festival of Death and Dying.

If you have bought an all-inclusive ticket or a one-day ticket, we invite you to bring a friend along with you for free.  ​If you have bought a one-day ticket, you can bring a friend along for the day you are coming. If you have bought an all-inclusive ticket, you can bring a friend for the whole festival. 

If you would like to take up this offer, please send us the name and email address of your friend and we'll put their name at the door.

This page also gives you key information on what to expect and some tips on how to make the most out of your festival experience.

We ask that you see yourselves as participants in actively making the festival possible. Our intention is to foster emotional growth and an increase in compassion.

LOCATION

Drill Hall, Studio, and Little Threshold at Critical Path 
1C New Beach Rd, Darling Point (Rushcutters Bay) 

Public Transport
Buses from Circular Quay - Along Castlereagh Street: 324, 325, 326, 327
(Buses go along New South Head road) The 327 goes down New Beach Road

Train: Closest station is Edgecliff, a 10 minute walk. Turn left down New South Head road, then keep going till you pass the Yacht club and Marina. The Drill is next to the Marina, on the left hand side next to the water.

Parking
Unlimited parking is available up the hill in Thornton Street in Darling Point. We recommend you park there. 2 hour limit On-street parking is available in surrounding streets: New Beach Road, Loftus Street, Yaranabee Road, Neild Avenue and Glenmore Road.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

Doors open at 8:45 am.
The first workshops of the day start at 9:30 am sharp. Please arrive early to account for parking delays and registration
Lunch is from 1-2:30pm; Dinner is from 6-7pm.

You can choose from 3 concurrent workshops happening in the 3 venues throughout the day. You can ​Download the Workshop Schedule here. You don't need to pre-book which workshop you're going to attend. You can choose on the day itself. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled start time for each workshop.

FOOD
Catering will be onsite from 9am to 7pm on both days. PLEASE BRING CASH WITH YOU. There will be no credit card facilities. You can purchase vegetarian lunch, dinner, morning and afternoon tea, coffee and snacks. ​Here is a snapshot of the menu.

PLEASE BRING
A water bottle if you think you'd need one to keep yourself hydrated.
Loose Fitting, comfortable clothes if you wish to take part in movement based workshops. Yoga mat, blanket & cushions if you'd like to use your own to sit on the floor and for meditation & body movement related workshops.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
There will be photographers and videographers on site to document the festival. We will not share videos and photos to the public without your consent. Please let the registration desk know if you don't want to be photographed or filmed.

PERFORMANCE NIGHT

Please arrive around 7pm for the Mortality Performance Night. The evening will begin shortly after 7:15pm.

SELF CARE
If at anytime during the workshops you feel overwhelmed or depleted, please feel free to step out to rest, re-calibrate and recover. You can take a walk around the park or sit under the sun in the grassy waterfront area around the festival venues.
