Carmel O’Beirne is an experienced educator and compassionate end-of-life doula who creates safe, respectful spaces for people to explore death and dying. She facilitates Death Cafes, Death Over Dinners, and other community events across Naarm, Melbourne, guiding conversations that help participants reflect, prepare, and connect.

Trained in Sacred Death Care, Carmel supports people and their families through dying, death, and the immediate aftermath, helping design meaningful ritual and ceremony to assist grieving and transition.

She volunteers with Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care, offering listening, presence, and emotional support to people who are dying and their carers.

A member of the Melbourne Threshold Choir, Carmel brings gentle song and compassion into end-of-life settings to soothe and hold space.

Carmel is studying Clinical Pastoral Education to deepen her skills in spiritual and pastoral care, integrating formal training with lived, community-based practice.

She finds restoration in nature—especially the ocean—and loves music and dancing.

Carmel believes that living with an awareness of mortality can open us to richer, more meaningful lives.
